Once a hacker is on the network, it can be easy to move around devices if the same setup error is repeated on multiple devices. That’s why it’s important to have an independent review of both servers and clients to help improve hygiene and security when setting up new devices. If an employee’s machine is compromised or a machine is lost, it’s also important to ensure that there are no vulnerabilities on the machine that allow access to your systems. The review is typically performed by accessing a server or being sent a server image or client PC, which we then perform our test on.  

How often are reviews performed?

A review should be performed when a new operating system is deployed and at least once a year. This is because new methods are constantly emerging that can be abused to gain access to devices  

Reporting

The work culminates in the preparation of a detailed report documenting the choice of methodology and test cases and providing prioritization of vulnerabilities and suggestions for mitigation. The report will be in two parts, a management summary that briefly describes your current IT security level in non-technical terms and then a technical section that describes the vulnerabilities found and most importantly, how to fix them and make a potential attack more difficult.
